Rebecca brings her bioinformatics and molecular biology expertise to the research team at AgBiome. She began her professional career at Athenix Corporation as a molecular biologist, working as a key member in the Vectoring group for three years. Following the acquisition of Athenix by Bayer CropScience in 2009, Rebecca transitioned into the bioinformatics group as part of the MiDAS team, in which she became a leader in gene discovery and sequence analysis, holding numerous patent applications for her discoveries.
Rebecca developed her passion for research during her undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst while working on an independent project studying chromosome segregation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. After completing her B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Rebecca began her graduate work at North Carolina State University, where she studied the regulation of gene expression during heterocyst development in the cyanobacterium Anabaena sp. strain PCC 7120. Rebecca completed her M.S. in Functional Genomics in 2006, with a concentration in Bioinformatics.
